Pennsylvania Route Man Sentenced
March 9th, 2010
Uniontown, Pa., March 9, 2010 - A former route driver for a Western Pennsylvania-based vending company was sentenced to three to six years in prison on March 4 for faking a robbery and stealing more than $9,000 from the company.
On December 23, 2008, the 25-year-old man told Pennsylvania State Police that he was jumped by a male and robbed of his collection bag. After this, his company assigned other drivers to the route.
The company began to take notice that the drivers assigned to his route were "collecting more money" from 11 vending machines the former employee had been servicing.
Law enforcement authorities eventually determined that the man lied about the robbery and had also stolen money from machines on his route in late 2008 and taken cash from a company locker in January 2009.
